Dear Partners,
As you have heard July 2024, The Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills announced that starting January 1, 2025, all vocational training institutions in British Columbia were required to adopt standardized testing meant to provide a more accurate English assessment for all applicants. In addition, the mentioned regulatory entity announced an increase in the required English test grade level.
As indicated in the Private Training Act Policy Manual Annotated with 2025 Regulatory Amendments issued December 11th, 2024, the list of approved English assessment tests and grades starting, January 1st, 2025, are as follows:
· Duolingo 95 or better
· TOEFL IBT 46 or better.
· IELTS 5.5 or better
· PTE 43 or better
· iTEP Academic 3.5 or better
